The human civilizaton started from constructing our own house and other facilities such as roadways, retaining walls of castles etc. The civil Engineering branch exist from that era. The civil engineering is the  oldest and evergreen branch of engineering This branch is started in Government polytechnic at 1983 with intake of 30 seats. Due to the increasing demand of infrastructure and buildings in the country, the intake  is increased to 120 seats in 2008.

The department is well euipped laboratories like Computer Lab, Hydrulic Lab, Survey Lab.

VISION : To become leading Civil engineering discipline by imparting quality education in developing highly competent students for higher education, profession and entrepreneurship.

MISSION : To prepare compatible students for higher studies through maximizing departmental resources.
To encourage theoretical, practical and professional skills with a focus on their employability and entrepreneur ability.

Labs


In this Laboratory all the instruments are available which are used in the Survey field.List of instruments are as below,

Metric chain, tilting level,Dumpy level, Auto level,Theodolite,Transit theodolite, Planimeter, Digital Planimeter, Survey compass, simple compass, Prismatic compass, Plane table, Electronic digital theodolite, Total station and some minor instruments.

This laboratory is used for the subject hydraulics  and below instruments are available,Reynolds's apparatus,Venturimeter, orifice,Rectangular and V notch, Bernoulli's apparatus, different types of Manometer, Friction loses in pipe,Pitot tube and minor equipment.
In this Laboratory Computers are available with XP, and softwares like Auto Cad ,MS Office and all browsers.
